Jet Pics
This page is to show some of my jets and also the jets of some of my friends and customers.
There are quite a lot of fairly high res pictures here so please be patient while they load
These two pictures are of the first Simjet to arrive into Australia. It was a 85N engine but has since been upgraded to a 2250 with auto start

Here is the man himself Lars Nohr the CEO of Simjet Denmark shown here beside Kim Gardner's Air Magic F15

Pictures of my ducted fan Renegade taken at the Perth Jet meet in May 2000
The next three pictures below are of my Simjet 2250 with autostart powered Renegade. I cheated and used the wings and tail feathers off my ducted fan version to get it flying quickly. Another set of wings and tail are on the board now. The last picture now shows the turbine Renegade with the fuselage painted. This aircraft has now flown and I must say I am so pleased with it. It is the best jet I have ever flown even better than the ducted fan version as the extra power makes this a dream to fly. The model weighs 8.1 kg dry and it carrys two litres of fuel so it makes it around 10kg wet. I have the turbine set at 8.5kg of thrust. I will soon turn the wick up to 10kg of thrust and then see how she goes.

The next two pictures below are of Darren Kennedy's Vigilante. Darren also kits the Renegade, the Vigilante is a larger version of the Renegade and made for turbine only. We saw it fly in Adelaide in March 2000, every time this aircraft went up the crowd stopped to watch. Darren really put it through its paces. The Vigilante is almost ready for full production, you had better get your order in quick there is a lot of people wanting one (including me!)

Yellow aircraft SR71 belonging to Col Watts of Toowoomba Qld. It has not flown yet
Yellow aircraft F18 built by Chris Paterson of
Brisbane Qld. It has been flown a lot it has twin Ramtec fan units and OS91.
Chris has a twin JPX kero burner version made and has flown it recently The twin
turbine can be seen below this picture. He was
the first to fly a twin turbine aircraft in Australia. Chris Paterson can be
seen on the right. Kevin Dodd is the person on the left he was the first person
in Australia to have a turbine
The two pictures below are of Keith Hayman's Kangaroo powered by a homebuilt turbine designed and built by Ken Jack in Bunderberg Qld

The pictures below are of my next project which is under way now. It of course is a F14 Tomact with swing wings and is intended for twin turbines. There is a bit of history to this model but essentially all three of the fuselages were made around 1990 in Germany and they were flown as twin pushed ducted fan with Rossi engines. I acquired them and kept the best fuselage and we are currently remolding the fuselage to add more scale detail and fix up a few original molding mistakes. I plan to kit this aircraft but it is still a fair way off before it will be ready

The next series of pictures are of Ian Thompson and his aircraft. Ian has been jet modelling for quite a while and deserves a lot of credit as he lives in the boonies (aussie for far away from other jet modellers). Ian lives between Lismore and Evans Head in northern New South Wales which is a three hour drive from us here in Brisbane. I test flew the Renegade at Evans Heads and its a fantastic site. It is a disused Australian Airforce Airfield. It is now used by a few modellers on Saturdays and ultralight aircraft on Sundays.

Byron F16 with Rossi engine.

Ian with his beautifully prepared Yellow Aircraft F18 Hornet. Ramtec fan and OS91. This will be at the Sydney 2000 Jet meet which is to be held at Nowra about two hours drive south of Sydney. See what I mean about the "boonies", cows and all.

Now just have a look at these two pics above. Its called modelling heaven. this is Ians workshop. The top pic shows the Byron F16, a Byron Mig15, a beautiful 1/5th scale Mustang and a unfinished 1/4 scale Corsair hanging from the ceiling. The lower pic has both Iam and Chris Patterson with the Hornet. Note the F20 Tigershark on the back wall this will have turbine power and over behind Ian sitting on the workbench you can see his "baby"

This is Ian's baby. A F9F Panther . It is from a John Timmins mold and just have a look at what is on the bench near the pink car poster. Yes it is a AMT Pegasus with the Jalb electric start and GSU. This is for the Panther.

The two pictures above are of Vin Pike's Spectre "Flatline". Vin travelled all the way from Adelaide in South Australia to the Superman 99 event in Metropolis USA toting his Spectre. Here he is posing for a picture with Dean Lassek and his enormous A10 Warthog
Here is a couple of pictures of my Kangaroo. It has been beefed up to take
the rough treatment of our grass strips here. Powerplant is Simjet 3000 and the
model weighs 10kg dry. She carrys 2.5litres of fuel.

The picture above is John Love holding his Kanagroo with a 2300 Simjet on it.
John is a master builder
Just thought I would put this picture up. We sponsor Larry Perkins Castrol V8 supercar team with radios and data telemetry
Savex L39 with Simjet 700 engine first flight video.......ugly ending the video is below the pics

This is my "Superjet" its the prototype of the Australian production of the Superjet designed by Leif Poulsen and a few friends in Denmark. I am still making the molds for this and have now a Stepfour CNC foam cutter to do the wings and tailplane with. This has been a project I havent got back to since preparing the my move from Lutwyche to Burpengary. The job of moving 3 houses and a business was bigger than I ever imagined so things have been very slow getting new sheds up and also setup but the main problem is room for all the "crap" you hoard up after 30 years at the one place with lots of room to store things. But after lots of culling and a bit more to do I will be finally able to make all the new workbenches and other jigs to fit into the new 15mtr by 7.5 mtr shed that will house the model building. I have quite a few jets I want to produce. There is the .Ssuperjet and a F86 Sabre, A4 Skyhawk,a large F18. Mid 2006 hopefully should see the first of the Superjet kits finally being produced. There is of course the F111A that Ian Thompson is working on the prototype now that I hope to produce as well. Some pics of the F111A so far are below. As you can see its not small :)
